It is a good story. I got an email one day and the sender, Anthony Flott, told me he found my credit card in the street by my house in Omaha, Nebraska. So, he googled my name, graciously informed me of my lost credit card and asked to write an article on me. Flott writes for Nebraska Magazine. This is a great article. Thank you so much Anthony! How many times have you met a person who challenges you to change major parts of your life? This challenge may be spoken or unspoken.
In my case, the challenge is unspoken. My new friend, Amir Solsky, has shown by example how important it is to prioritize your eating program. He follows a Paleolithic Diet. I will be exploring in this direction. I am sure I will flounder through self expectations and physical adjustments. It is all part of the challenge. Gosh, will I end up giving up my Lo-Carb Monster energy drink?!!
I believe that if there is one thing worthy of investing in, it is what you put in your body. -Amir Solsky
Please, enjoy Mestre Parafina (Amir Solsky) in the following stunt demo video, displaying his Capoeira expertise. And visit his website at www.capoeiralosangeles.com.
I have been busy being a Mom… to my new baby kitty, Banjo. All of my cats have had some form of Jo in their names. Recent cats have been one or combinations of the following: Kujo, Big Jo, Little Jo, Mr Jo, Jo Jo. This one is Banjo. She just came home yesterday and has already shown me her personality.
She sleeps under pillows and between couch cushions. She sees her reflection in the fireplace glass. At first she was scared, but now they are buddies. She plays hide and seek. She cuddles with here mama!
I feel fabulous! I am taking good care of my triceps tendon. It has been almost 5 weeks since surgery, I will wait another 3 weeks before I start lifting my right side. Even then I will slowly gain strength, in my triceps and my biceps.
I AM training my healthy side. I have always heard it may help heal the injured side. I will take that chance. You can definitely tell I am getting smaller on my right side. I am glad it is only temporary. As I stated in my video blog, I am doing good leg workouts. I am going into high gear on that one. I am not holding a loaded bar on my back as not to put tension on my healing triceps. So, I am doing different machines and different stances for all of them. It is fun to change it up a bit.
Here is a good saying on my friend’s mirror (and a good shot of the quads).
I think it applies in some aspects, but not all. Have a wonderful day!
Injury is something that is in the contract when you sign-up for becoming the strongest woman on the planet. I have 3 zippers (scars) now. Incisions for both biceps tendons to be attached and now one triceps tendon.
Besides these lovely scars, I have sprained my upper back, which has contributed to long term nerve pain for my shoulders. And, as you will see from this video, I tore an inner thigh muscle. It eventually bleed out (when you tear a muscle the blood supply is ripped open and it will bleed internally, looking like a dark bruise).
Over all, my body feels fantastic and I continue to lift fairly heavy (for a female). However, longevity did contribute to the end of my powerlifting career. That and the fact that I had reached all of my goals.
This clip is from STRONGEST EVER, a documentary about my lifting and my life while reaching the goal of totaling over 2000 lbs, hundreds above any female to date. The documentary has been played in Germany, Italy and Finland, to name a few. I hope it is played in the USA someday. I do not own any rights to the movie, so I can not get you a copy… maybe some day.
I just got some great news, and I will share that when I am allowed. Can not wait!!
The news prompted me to look on www.imdb.com, the internet movie database. Anyone who has any credits in film gets a page on IMDB. It is a mile marker for getting into film and television.
Well, I was looking at Chris Bell’s page, of Bigger, Faster, Stronger. He had a credit from E! True Hollywood Stories – Female Bodybuilders. I had a segment on that show (thanks to Chris), so I clicked it…. scrolled down the character list…. and there was my name… Clicked it…. AND I HAVE MY OWN IMDB PAGE!!!! Click here to see.
I wonder if I can get Strongest Ever added? It has been shown in Germany, Finland and Italy.
I just texted the producer to see if I can put a clip of E! True Hollywood Stories on my blog. You will be the first to know.
Well, here is some news, not so great. But, challenges happen and life moves forward. We all grow and adjust. I am moving forward, we all are. The video is a bit choppy near the end, as it was a phone video.
Keep checking in to see some clips from Strongest Ever, a documentary about my life and lifting. The clip highlights Dr. Marshall Jacobs discussing the stress my body endured as I was in peak training as the strongest woman in the world.
Then, I will post a video of me getting my staples taken out… Just for FUN!!
Well, I cant tell you how long my car has been my mobile closet!! And the beach bag has been my mobile bare necessity bag! Even before I came out to LA, I was practically living out of my car. I consider myself lucky I HAD the opportunity to be a nomad. I am lucky to have great friends that let me stay on their couches and in extra rooms. It allowed me to sift through LA and find out where I belong.
I am so glad to have moved the baggage into my NEW CONDO!! Thank God for leading me to good people. I am lucky girl!
