Inspiration From Within
My entire athletic career, inspiration has come from within. Never tracing in another’s footsteps, rather finding numerical or physical goals, unrelated to the achievements of another human being. When studied from a different perspective, these outsider’s achievements can also be seen as limiting factors. For example, at one time I had the second highest squat, the first highest being 634 lbs. If I spent time chasing another person’s upper limit squat of 634 lb, who is to say I would not have been satisfied with a 635 lb squat? Instead, I was chasing a 650 lb squat, then a 700, then 725 and on and on to my best of all time 854 lbs. Inspiration by numbers is infinite.
There is no harm in admiring another athlete and studying their technique. However, I think your final goals should be very personal; defined by your very own potential. View it as limitless and untapped.
Tomorrow, I will show you an athlete I recently met. I admire his athleticism and commitment to his physique.
