Oh, I Can’t Sleep

12 February 2010

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I can not sleep.  Maybe it is the low carb diet.  I have so much energy!  It is not for lack of exercise; I train 3 times a day most days.  Maybe it is shedding the past and the big move to LA.  I have so much to look forward to there!  MAYBE, it is that I am addicted to learning how to administer website!  Maybe it is my WWE try-out coming on Tuesday.  Maybe it is the fact that I can’t stop thinking about the books I want to write.

Bodybuilding.com
Well, anyway, I am ordering some Melatonin today from Bodybuilding.com! This product is under $2!! Melatonin, is hormone produced naturally by the body. The release of melatonin correlates with the body’s cycle of day and night. The highest levels of the hormone are produced at night. So, take Melatonin to help reset your body clock.

Fat Loss Cardio

12 February 2010

Whenever I am on the fat loss plan, I do cardio in the morning before I eat anything. I also do it within the first hour that I wake. You are in your fat burning phase at this time! The cardio doesn’t have to be intense. I choose to do cardio in the fat burning zone. To find out what your fat burning zone is, get a Heart Rate Zone Chart for your home gym or as a gift to your public gym.

Personally, I own a Nike Imara Heart Rate Monitor Watch. I absolutely love it because I can set my upper and lower heart rates and it will beep at me to tell me when I am out of my zone. Plus, when using modern cardio equipment, some of them read the chest strap and adjust the intensity of the workout to your zone!!You don’t even have to pay attention to the console!

My favorite piece of cardio, because it isn’t easy, is the StairMaster Stepper. Plus, I think some of the other pieces of cardio equipment are inaccurate about the amount of calories you burn. You can use your Heart Rate Monitor to compare with the console on this matter.

Anyway, as long as you are in your fat burning zone for at 45-60 minutes, you are successful! I do this 5 days per week.

Back Day

11 February 2010

Oh, crap, broke the lat pulldown. I swear it is a design issue! LOL! Good thing I got some good sets in before it failed. And couldn’t do the low row, because it is being fixed. Um, wonder who broke that one… er, uh?!! I replaced the low row exercise with bent over rows, overhand, wide grip. So, I guess, if you want to know if you want to test the integrity of your equipment, ask me to lift at your gym.

This morning, 450 calories burned before breakfast.
This afternoon, Deadlifts and back assistance work.
This evening, pro-wrestling practice.

Todays Workout Plan:
Deadlift – keeping reps at 3 on the heavy sets
Underhand Lat Pulldown
Low Row – ONE OF MY FAV
One arm cable row from low pulley
Weighted Abs

LET’S GET IT ON!!

Eating Right

10 February 2010

I did morning cardio today. I considered getting a weight workout done, but I think we are going to get our booties kicked in pro-wrestling practice. I’m going to save my muscles for that!

I wanted to tell you a few things I believe in when choosing foods to eat for fat loss. I believe in the glycemic index. Basically, your metabolism is run by your blood sugar. Foods you eat can raise or lower your blood sugar and cause you to store or burn fat. I learned about this from the book Protein Power: The High-Protein/Low-Carbohydrate Way to Lose Weight. WE ALL EAT!!! So, we should all know what happens in our bodies when we eat. From the first 80 pages of Protein Power you will learn TONS about your body.  It also offers handy recipes.

If the words ‘protein diet’ make you a bit uneasy.  Try the The South Beach Diet. It follows the same principle of eating low glycemic foods, which gives your body a chance to burn more fat. I always suggest reading the diet before trying it, but here is the recipe book so you can cut to the chase, The South Beach Diet Quick and Easy Cookbook.

Good Things Brewing!

9 February 2010

There are some good things brewing.  You know when you are so attached to something, but all the ‘signs’ are asking you to move away.  It is a hard thing to accept, but it is most likely for the better.  Believe you have a destiny, you may win some and you may lose some.  Life is what you make of it.

Mondays Plan

8 February 2010

Cardio in the morning.  Then this afternoon I will do chest and shoulders.  I have been stuck in my routine, so today I will change it up a bit.  Chest movements will be done first, but lighter.  Then I will jam out some heavy shoulders.

My plan for chest:

Incline Bench
Flat Smith Machine Bench
Flat DB Presses
Cable Cross-over

My plan for Shoulders:

Smith Machine Front Press
Behind the Neck
DB Side Raises
DB Rear Delts Flies

Super Bowl

7 February 2010

I am headed over to a friends house here in Eldon, Mo to watch the Super Bowl a bit later.  I will cheer for the Saints… Go Saints!  I am posting another question and answer, so be sure to check that out.  Have a great Sunday!

YEAH SAINTS!!

Football is fun and it brings people together.  I was deprived for 12 years.  Now I am back in the game and enjoying it!

Squats Today

6 February 2010

I am looking forward to squats today. I keep telling myself, “Just go lighter and do more reps.” But the powerlifter in me always wants to load the bar up for a heavy single or double.

Sometimes wonder if my legs are getting small. Then I see a picture like this one with amazing powerlifter April Shumaker. I am doing just fine!
