This Weekend

28 February 2010

This WEEK has been crazy! I am living it up in Eldon, MO as it is my last weekend to party it up before I move. I went out on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and I am heading out tonight. EIKS, going to have to burn the extra calories off!

Here is what I did for Tris and Bis yesterday:

Skull Krushers
Overhead Cable Skull Krushers (elbows up really high)
Kick Backs with a rope on the low cable

Straight Bar Curl
Incline DB Curl
Hammer Curl w curl bar

I have a video about Incline DB Curls I will post later tonight. Come back and check it out!

I am off to do legs!

Sticking to the plan

27 February 2010

I had made myself accountable to you by stating that I would do weights Wed, Thurs, Sat and Sun. I have been true to the plan and it always feels good! Thursday I did a Chest and Shoulder workout, but I took it kind of easy, as my right shoulder was talking to me… not screaming at me, but letting me know it wasn’t 100%. So, i listened.

Chest/Shoulders:
Flat Bench
Incline Hammer Machine
Flat DB Press
Pec Deck

Standing DB Press, last two heavy sets seated
Side DB Raises
Rear Delt Fly on Pec Deck

Today, I will do Tris and Bis. If someone is around to help, I will do an instructional video. Tune in!

Successful Back Workout

24 February 2010

It was good to get back in the gym today.  I normally start the week with Chest/shoulders.  I got a late start this week and we do a lot of push-ups in pro-wrestling practice, so I wanted to stay fresh. That is why I chose to do Deadlifts and Back assistance work.

A lot of people ask me if I deadlift Sumo or Conventional.  I have always been a conventional style deadlifter. A great reference is the book Strength Training Anatomy.  It shows you use a lot more muscles in your back when lifting conventionally.

When it comes to shaping the back, I think conventional is the way to go.  If you are not competing in powerlifting, stay with a double overhand grip for symmetry.  In this case, I think it is okay to use straps for grip support.  But, do not use them until you really need to.  Use a hook grip first; I put my first and middle finger on top of my thumbnail.  Hurts like an S.O.B. at first, but you get used to it.  When I was training heavy, I would use my overhand grip until 500 lbs, then I would switch to reverse grip.

I remind people that the strongest female deadlifter, me, and the strongest male deadlifter, Andy Bolton, deadlift conventionally.  So, if you want a big deadlift, do what the strongest deadlifters do.

BACK WORKOUT
Deadlifts
Close Grip Lat Pulldowns
Wide Grip Low Rows
Straight Arm Extentions
Weighted Abs
Ahhh… shoot, I was lazy today. I should have done some DB Rows.

Radio Interview

24 February 2010

I will have a radio interview with Stephen Saint tonight at 8 pm CST on the cutting edge.  You can tune in via internet thecuttingedge1019fm.com.  We will be talking about pro-wrestling and a bit about my background.  Join in the fun!!

I never did get a chance to weight lift yesterday.  But, I am not too hard on myself.  I will surely get all of my workouts in this week.  I do a 4 day split, so I will workout today, tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday.  I am back on the clean eating today.  By the time I get to LA, I am going to be showing the abs! YAY!

Back in to the Pattern

23 February 2010

Whew, last week was a whirlwind!  The visits to the WWE were great.  It is fun to be back stage and interact with the athletes.  It is exciting to be recognized by the staff and greeted warmly.

Give me a day or two to get back on track here on my site.  I need to get my bottom to the gym so I can work this wonderful physique of mine.  I don’t even have a plan for the gym.  I am just going to go and feel it out.  I am thinking deadlifts and back work.  I log my workout later tonight after wrestling practice.

House of Pain

19 February 2010

You can always spot a fellow powerlifter when you see them donning HOUSE OF PAIN clothing.  For anyone who doesn’t know what House of Pain has to offer, check it out by clicking on the link below.  You can get out of the fad phase of Affliction and have a style of your own!  They even have MMA gear.

The Day After

18 February 2010

Well, you never know what to expect when you go to the WWE venue. Some things I expected didn’t happen and some things happen unexpectedly. I always feel a warm welcome from all of the athletes and staff at the WWE. It felt good to be recognized and associated with Harley Race. I left with some things in motion. I should hear back on that soon. I will accompany Harley to the Pay Per View on Sunday. I am very excited to see everyone again.

Here is a picture of me and Beth Phoenix:

Keep up with me! And keep the positive energy coming!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR CHECKING IN!!
